All of the kopjes are named and the most commonly known are Simba, Gol, Research and Moru kopjes. - The Seronera Valley is the heart of Serengeti National Park with vegetation changes do acacia dotted plains, where lions and leopards are often spotted. The banks of the Seronera River are lined with lush palm trees, sausage trees, towering yellow fever acacias, bird species and the Retima Hippo Pool.
- Western Corridor, the vegetation changes to swampy and wooded savannah land. The Western Corridor has 2 large rivers which are Grumeti and Mbalageti flowing into the Lake Victoria. Huge crocodiles basking in the sun and patas monkeys are found in the area.
- The northern part of Serengeti National Park is covered of open woodlands, riverine forests and mountains. The majestic Mara River is in this area where the great migration animals try to cross.
